This session reviews the principles of causal inference, with focus on applications in pharmacoepidemiology and drug safety. Dr. Platt presents the foundational tools of causal inference including the potential outcomes framework, and describes how these tools can be applied to studies of pharmacoepidemiology. He will discuss specific examples in evaluation of drug safety research questions.
